Our story takes place in the early 2000s in Miami, Florida. Nico, a well-known nightclub manager, receives an offer to manage a dilapidated bar. It doesn't take him too long to realize that the new owner is connected to the Italian Mafia families out of New York. Nico, growing up in Miami, heard rumors of the Italians back in the day running an operation out of Miami Beach. The story was that they were chased out, not only by the county cops but by the local officials as well. There is no doubt anymore; the Italians have returned, and with them a new strategy—one soldier and one bodyguard—they keep it small and quiet, under the radar. Take over a few failing businesses, and once they have enough cash, start spreading it around to the local Cubans in charge. Everyone knew that the Cubans ran Miami; this was their city, their County and no one was going to take it from them. Nico, being half Cuban and half Italian, was an asset to both of them and was soon introduced to the way things were really run. Marco, a longtime soldier out of New York, is anxious to prove himself. This was his chance. If he could set up a profitable route here with the Cubans, this could be his ticket to promotion. A captain, able to start his own crew and his own routes. Many interesting and diverse characters are introduced along the way, including Amara. After growing up as a military brat, she joined as soon as she was old enough, and after serving for two years, she left to attend college. She gets a job at the bar, and she and Nico become very close, and together the two of them help their new Italian benefactor, Marco, expand quickly. Word of their success is going around town, and they have attracted the attention of not only the local Cuban gangs but the Haitian Cartel as well. The Italians are making big moves, and everyone knows that if they are not contained, it won't take them too long to establish a solid foothold. Being that Marco and his bodyguard are the only made men allowed
